 Patrol Method
- The patrol method gives Boy Scouts an experience in group living and participating in citizenship. It places responsibility on their young shoulders and teaches them how to accept it. The patrol method allows Scouts to interact in small groups where they can easily relate to each other. These small groups determine troop activities through their elected representatives.
Most patrols are organized by age group. The majority of new Scouts enter our troop via a Cub Scout Pack, in this case, the entire group can become one Boy Scout Patrol. If a boy joins by himself he may choose a patrol provided there is sufficient room in that group, or he will be assigned one by the Troop. Patrols generally contain 8 to 10 boys and are supervised by 1 or 2 adult mentors (parents from that patrol). Patrols meet weekly right after the Troop meeting for 30 to 40 minutes to conduct Patrol business, plan for campouts and work on Merit Badges.
